COBRA Overview

COBRA continuation coverage provides employees in certain circumstances (like resignation, reduction in work hours, layoff*, etc.) the ability to continue the health and/or dental coverage after they would normally no longer be eligible.

*The American Recovery And Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was recently passed on February 17, 2009 which may allow employees who would lose coverage due to involuntary layoff, a partial subsidy towards the COBRA premium for up to 9 months.  If you would like to learn more about ARRA review the "Commonly Asked Questions" section of the COBRA page, review the information at the links on the right side of this page, or contact the Department of Labor at 1-866-444-3272.

If you have other questions regarding COBRA continuation coverage, please contact May Vang in Human Resources at 651-767-8217 or may.m.vang@spps.org.
